Following a careful work that aims to send a clear message in which, in addition to highlighting the link with the past, there is a strong relationship with the future represented by the new generation. A women-led winery: Alessandra Felluga and her daughters Maria Vittoria, Michela and Maria Eugenia. With this message Castello di Buttrio presents its new guise.
For those of us who have their own values firmly anchored to the land, in fact, words such as “time”, “history”, “tradition” and “culture of the vine” are not simple commercials, but real cardinal points on which to draw a future route of credibility, respect and renewal.
Along with viticulture, one of the activities that once animated Castello di Buttrio was the breeding of the silkworm. Thanks to this great little prodigy of nature, after a scrupulous craftsmanship marked, as for the vineyard, by great dedication and effort, precious silks were obtained, with exclusive and precious textures and colors. Taking ideally this thin silk thread, we wanted to rethink our labels by embellishing them with one of these unique textures, a tribute to our history, to the peasant culture of our land and to the refined and artisan taste of our tradition.
Tradition that plunge its roots above all in viticulture.
Alessandra Felluga has always had a clear idea: to produce wines that reflect the territory and the history from which they come from. The goal is to explore and express Colli Orientali of Friuli. Ancient vineyards, the real privilege and heritage of this winery, are flanked by new plants, to produce indigenous varieties such as Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Refosco and Pignolo; and international varieties such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio and Merlot in the 26 hectares of vineyards (38 total of the property) that surround Castello di Buttrio, now totally renovated.
The careful care of the vineyards, the deep respect for nature and the desire to enhance the characteristics of the varieties and the territory are the basis of our philosophy.
Our land is made of Flysch, an alternation of layers of marl and sandstone, known by the traditional name Ponca. It offers the vine and grapes a soil suited to the production of mineral wines, fresh with a well-defined and unmistakable character. Sincere wines with clear and precise characteristics, alongside Monblanc, a blend. We find the maximum expression of this in the Riserve: Uve Carate Bianco Riserva, Uve Carate Rosso Riserva and Ettaro Sauvignon Riserva.
The hills of Buttrio allow, in a region known for white wines, to express quality also in the red wines, which present a good balance between fruit and tannin with an elegant and persistent finish.
Castello di Buttrio is wine and vineyards, but also hospitality with comfortable rooms and typical cuisine in the welcoming Locanda, to offer our guests an “all-round” image of Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Castello di Buttrio welcomes its guests in a peaceful atmosphere where hospitality is the key word and where time seems to be standing still among the vine-scented hills, the ancient trees and the quiet, leafy paths.
Castello di Buttrio, just a few miles away from Udine and whose history dates back to the 11th century, is part of Friuli’s Colli Orientali and extends across Buttrio’s hills.
In 1994 Marco Felluga acquired the property, which his daughter Alessandra completely restored giving new life to the once abandoned rooms and new wines to the surrounding ancient yet strong and great vineyards, the real treasure of the estate.
A project deeply felt and wanted by Alessandra, who today works with tenacity and dedication alongside her daughters Maria Vittoria, Michela and Maria Eugenia.
Castello di Buttrio, in which the past, the present and the future harmoniously blend together, is a compound built, and eventually finely restored, across different centuries and ages, and just like the old vineyards intertwine with the younger ones, everything fuses together giving birth to this unique place, like it’s frozen in time.
Today the Castle is a boutique hotel with eight elegant and refined rooms. Each room is furnished with a distinctive personality and refreshing colorful touches given by precious fabrics and accessories. The spacious and comfortable rooms overlook either the internal garden or the surrounding vineyards.
Colors, décor and unique views together with comfort and modernity. The crackles from the lit fireplaces creates a moment of intimate and relaxing ambience perfect to enjoy a glass of wine paired with a book or a chess game. A professionally equipped gym is also available for the fitness lovers.

Guided tours are offered at the winery, followed by wine tastings of Castello di Buttrio wines. Guests can enjoy picnic baskets among our vineyards and bicycles are available to explore the territory, either across the countryside roads or the cycling tracks that connect Grado’s laguna to the Alps.
Collective activities for larger groups are also available upon request filled with yoga or cooking classes.
A smart-working-tailored getaway, Castello di Buttrio is the ideal location where to escape while balancing WFH with personal comfort and both outdoor and indoor activities.
Castello di Buttrio also has a boutique that offers Le Sur products, the Castle’s brand, such as the traditional Friulane shoes (available in different models and fabrics), territory-inspired perfumes and homeware goods. Maria Vittoria, Michela and Maria Eugenia carefully take care of the boutique locally sourcing the finest products and enhancing the tradition of the region.
Events
Castello di Buttrio offers modern comforts in a setting of historical significance. Wide spaces, enchanting salons, original exposed beams, rustic barns and stables, staircases and flowery gardens create the perfect location for all kinds of events, including weddings, conferences, summer parties,
ceremonies, gala dinners and much more. There is even a small church at the edge of the park where couples can exchange their vows.
Agriturismo
The Agriturismo Tra le Vigne offers five rooms furnished in a refined country style, each with private bathrooms with shower or tub. The rooms are immersed in the quiet of the countryside.
Guests can enjoy an aperitivo while sitting under the blooming wisteria tree, organize an outdoor BBQ for al fresco dining in the garden, a glass of wine in front of the fireplace.

Così inizia la famosa “Lettera sulla Crisi” (Albert Einstein) che a quasi un secolo di distanza, continua a sembrarci così attuale e di grande ispirazione.
Castello di Buttrio presenta una nuova veste per le proprie etichette, frutto di un appassionato lavoro fatto di dialogo fra il rispetto della tradizione vitivinicola e di una rinnovata visione del futuro da parte della nuova generazione. Un’azienda al femminile: Alessandra Felluga e le sue figlie Maria Vittoria, Michela e Maria Eugenia: “Per chi come noi ha i propri valori saldamente ancorati alla terra, infatti, parole come “tempo”, “storia”, “tradizione” e “cultura della vite” non sono semplici spot pubblicitari, ma veri e propri punti cardinali sui quali tracciare una rotta futura fatta di credibilità, rispetto e di rinnovamento.
Insieme alla viticultura, una delle attività che anticamente animavano il Castello di Buttrio era l’allevamento del baco.
Grazie a questo piccolo grande prodigio della natura, dopo una scrupolosa lavorazione artigianale segnata, come per la
vigna, da grande dedizione e fatica, si ottenevano tessuti pregiati, con trame e colori esclusivi e preziosi. Riprendendo idealmente questo filo sottile, abbiamo voluto ripensare alle nostre etichette impreziosendole con una di queste trame uniche, omaggio alla nostra storia, alla cultura contadina della nostra terra ed al gusto raffinato ed artigianale della nostra tradizione.”
Tradizione che affonda le sue radici soprattutto nella viticoltura.
Alessandra Felluga ha sempre avuto una chiara idea: produrre vini che riflettano il territorio e la storia da cui provengono. L’obiettivo è quello di esplorare ed esprimere i Colli Orientali del Friuli.
Antichi vigneti, vero privilegio e patrimonio di questa azienda, si affiancano a nuovi impianti, per produrre varietà autoctone come il Friulano, la Ribolla Gialla, il Refosco dal peduncolo rosso e il Pignolo; e varietà internazionali come il Sauvignon, lo Chardonnay il Pinot Grigio ed il Merlot nei
26 ettari vitati (38 totali della proprietà) che circondano il Castello di Buttrio, oggi totalmente ristrutturato.
L’attenta cura delle vigne, il profondo rispetto per la natura e il desiderio di esaltare le caratteristiche delle varietà e del territorio sono alla base della nostra filosofia. Il nostro terreno è costituito da Flysch, un alternarsi di strati di marne e arenarie, conosciuta con il nome Ponca. Essa offre alla vite e all’uva un suolo vocato alla produzione di vini minerali, freschi con un carattere ben determinato e
inconfondibile. Vini sinceri e con chiare e precise caratteristiche, che si affiancano ad un uvaggio Monblanc. La massima espressione di questo lo ritroviamo poi nelle riserve: Uve Carate Bianco Riserva, Uve Carate Rosso Riserva ed Ettaro Sauvignon Riserva. Le colline di Buttrio permettono, in una regione conosciuta per i vini bianchi, di esprimere qualità anche nei vini rossi, che presentano un buon equilibrio tra frutto e tannino con un finale elegante e persistente.
Il Castello di Buttrio è vino e vigneti, ma anche ospitalità con confortevoli camere e cucina tipica nella accogliente Locanda, per offrire ai nostri ospiti un’immagine a “tutto tondo” del Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Sorge sui Colli Orientali del Friuli, in provincia di Udine e la sua storia inizia nel XIII secolo.
Nel 1994 Marco Felluga acquista la proprietà e la figlia Alessandra segue il restauro del castello circondato da antichi vigneti, vero patrimonio dell’azienda.
Nuova vita e allegre voci nelle stanze chiuse e abbandonate da secoli e nuovi vini espressione della forza e della longevità delle vigne.
Un progetto voluto da Alessandra, che oggi collabora con tenacia e dedizione assieme alle sue figlie Maria Vittoria, Michela e Maria Eugenia.
Castello di Buttrio è al centro di una trama in cui passato, presente e futuro convivono in armonia, è composto da edifici risalenti a epoche diverse e finemente ristrutturati così come vecchi vigneti convivono con nuovi impianti.
Tutto contribuisce all’identità di un luogo unico, sospeso in un tempo lento.
Oggi è un boutique hotel con otto camere eleganti e raffinate. Stanze uniche tutte diverse tra loro, arredate con antichi mobili di famiglia e moderni e freschi tocchi di colore dati da accessori e tessuti pregiati.
Spaziose e confortevoli, si affacciano sui giardini interni o sul morbido anfiteatro naturale di vigneti circostanti.
Colori, arredi, panorami unici e freschezza assieme al comfort e alla modernità.

È possibile prenotare visite guidate in cantina con degustazione dei vini Castello di Buttrio e descrizione dei vigneti; per gruppi e su richiesta si possono organizzare settimane a tema, come lezioni di yoga o di cucina.

Residenza e dimora storica, il Castello di Buttrio offre il fascino di una villa senza tempo. Gli ampi spazi, l’incanto dei saloni, le travi a vista, il rustico dei granai e delle scuderie, le scalinate e i fioriti giardini potranno dare la giusta cornice a matrimoni, cerimonie, eventi aziendali (presentazioni, convegni, sfilate e photoshoot, cene esclusive). E’ possibile celebrare il rito religioso nella piccola chiesa di origine duecentesca adiacente al castello, nei giardini o tra i vigneti.
Agriturismo
L’Agriturismo Tra le Vigne dispone di quattro camere arredate in uno stile country-chic immerse nella tranquillità dei vigneti.
