“Standing on the top floor of the tower, in front of the wonderful wall paintings, reading the texts under individual scenes, the energy of the round tower, imbued with history, flows through you, while your gaze wanders through the windows and slits to the city below.”
At Ljubljana Castle, the most visited tourist spot in Slovenia, in the Archers’ Tower, which stands right next to the entrance to the castle, a high culinary offer is created by an exceptional
chef, Chef Igor Jagodic.
All included into one thought,
one passion – where there is a
will, there is a way!
The round tower, the origins of which date back to the 15th century, took on its present appearance after the restoration in the 1950s, when architect Boris Kobe and academic painter Marija Pregelj decorated the interior of the tower with its now recognisable features, sgraffito wall murals. In a wide ribbon, the paintings embrace the tower’s interior and shows fragments of the stories of the Slovene folk tradition in framed scenes: Lepa Vida, Desetnica, Mlada Zora … Even then, the management of the Ljubljana Castle intended the Archers’ Tower for the hospitality sector; a pub was opened on the ground floor, and a popular café on the top floor. And because history likes to repeat itself, the Archers’ Tower, after its latest renovation, was again dedicated to culinary arts, which will once again bring this wonderful, special place to life.

With respect for tradition, Chef Jagodic prepares modern dishes according to his own recipes, which are timeless again and again.
Having gained extensive international experiences (René Redzepi and Nils Henkel), he has won quite a few medals and awards at international cooking competitions, including for Chef of the Year 2019 according to the Gault & Millau Slovenia culinary guide.
He maintains full respect for the dishes, ingredients and, of course, the guests at all times. Above all, and despite all the accolades and achievements, he maintains his sincere modesty, warm-heartedness and passion, which guide him through his and Restaurant Strelec’s culinary journey.
